Alok Bhatnagar from Uttar Pradesh will represent India at the ITF World Masters Tennis Championship, scheduled to begin on August 3 in Lisbon, Portugal. A former state No. 1 and international tennis player, Bhatnagar currently serves with MVVNL–UPPCL.
Selected by the All India Tennis Association (AITA), Bhatnagar will compete in the 55+ age category across team events, singles, doubles, and mixed doubles. The prestigious championship will feature teams from 22 countries. Bhatnagar has previously won multiple ITF titles and currently holds the No. 1 national ranking in doubles and mixed doubles in the 55+ category. His global rankings stand at 106 in singles and 31 in doubles.
The Indian men’s team also includes captain Pawan Kapoor, Raj Dutt, and Lakshmikant Tanwar. Bhatnagar was earlier selected to lead India at the World Championship in Mexico but had to withdraw due to personal reasons.
In the women’s category, India will be represented by Vibha Chaudhary (captain), Manju Chauhan, Babita Mohan, and Sohini Kumari.
